Since January 1, 2006, you can go directly to the physiotherapist if you have complaints about your musculoskeletal system, without the need for a referral letter from your GP or specialist. This also applies to specialized forms of physiotherapy such as manual therapy and psychosomatic physiotherapy.
Of course, you can still make an appointment with your GP first, but in principle this is no longer necessary. If you decide to go directly to the physiotherapist, he or she will first carry out a so-called screening. This means that he first determines whether you have come to the right place for the physiotherapist. If not, he can advise you, for example, to contact your GP. If you can be treated by the physiotherapist, he or one of his colleagues can start the treatment in consultation with you.
Yes, that's possible. You can make an appointment directly with the physiotherapist of your choice. Research has shown that most people are quite capable of determining whether they can go directly to the physiotherapist or whether it is better to make an appointment with the GP first.
If you are not sure whether physiotherapy is the right choice for your complaint, you can of course also make an appointment with your GP for a referral.
The big advantage is that you are usually at the right place straight away and can therefore start therapy more quickly.
Almost all insurers consider DTF very important and have therefore included it in the policy of their supplementary insurance policies. A condition for reimbursement is that the physiotherapist is registered in the BIG register and in the Central Quality Register of the KNGF and that he/she treats in accordance with the guidelines drawn up by the KNGF. All employees of our practice meet these conditions.
Before you make an appointment with the physiotherapist, it is wise to check your insurance policy to see whether your health insurer also reimburses DTF or to call your health insurer to ask whether it reimburses DTF. If you have been to a doctor beforehand, ask for a referral. This saves you the costs of a screening.
