Although it is often thought that tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) only heals with rest, tennis elbow is indeed a treatable complaint. Physiotherapy Iburg has been successfully treating clients with this complaint since 1995. According to Physiotherapy Iburg, in 90 percent of cases, in addition to treatment on the painful area, the treatment is a treatment of muscles and joints that fall within the same treatment area. This means that the neck, shoulders and wrist also need to be treated. A broad orientation and approach appears to give good results.
With tennis elbow you may suffer from:
Tennis elbow can be caused by overloading the extensor muscles of the wrist and fingers. In fact, all actions that combine a pinching movement with the hand and a rotating movement with the arm can cause tennis elbow.
Tennis elbow exercises can play an important role in solving tennis elbow. Our specialized physiotherapist will draw up a tailor-made treatment plan together with you. We will determine what effective exercises will be and how we can further expand these exercises. There are all kinds of stretching exercises and there are exercises to promote tendon development. We also take into account maintaining muscle strength.
With golfer's elbow you may experience the following symptoms and complaints:
In golfer's elbow, the flexor muscles of the wrist and fingers are overloaded, causing irritation at the attachment of the muscles on the inside of the elbow. This irritation can occur at some point due to repetitive movements. Examples of common causes include painting, typing, screwdriving and lifting heavy items.
With tennis elbow there is overload in the so-called 'wrist extensors': a painful attachment of one or more tendons to the outside or top of the elbow. Sometimes the overload is on the inside/bottom of the elbow. In this case it is a golfer's elbow or golfer's arm. In addition to local pain, there may also be pain at the wrist and this increases when exerting force and lifting, among other things.
First of all, an inventory and investigation will take place into the cause of your complaint. If it turns out that you have tennis elbow/golfer's elbow, a treatment plan will be drawn up in consultation. The treating physiotherapist then explains which treatment is taking place.
