Exercise therapy is a commonly used treatment method in physiotherapy. Targeted exercises under the guidance of a therapist ensure that the body becomes more resilient and that complaints reduce or disappear. Exercise therapy can be used in different ways, depending on the complaint. Sometimes it is sufficient to perform exercises at home, but sometimes it is necessary for the patient to come to the practice several times a week.
Exercise therapy is used for back problems, but also for (chronic) pain complaints, rehabilitation after surgery or injury and for sports injuries. Exercise therapy is an effective treatment method that not only addresses the complaint, but also its cause.
Exercise therapy is an effective treatment method for common conditions such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder complaints and osteoarthritis. We treat these conditions with exercise therapy according to the latest insights and guidelines. Regular exercise accelerates recovery and can reduce or even eliminate symptoms.
Exercise therapy consists of mobilizing exercises (improving the mobility of a joint), stabilizing exercises (improving balance/coordination), muscle strengthening exercises (strength training) and posture correction. Advice and information is also provided about posture and adjustment of exercise behavior. Exercises are also provided that you can perform at home or at the gym.
Exercise therapy in our practice can use fitness equipment and various exercise materials such as dumbbells, dynabands, balls and balance balls.
Bee rehabilitation processes recovery after, for example, an accident, operation, illness or physical complaint is central. In addition to physical, a rehabilitation process can also include mental aspects, such as 'fear of strain' and is tailored to your personal situation and objectives to be achieved. An important part of exercise therapy is “stability training”. This is training coordination/balance. The best-known example of this is “core stability”; improving trunk coordination. Much (low) back problems are (partly) caused by reduced core stability. Insufficient trunk balance also causes reduced stability in the kinetic chains (arm and/or leg). In case of complaints of peripheral joints (such as shoulder, hip, knee, ankle foot) a lot of attention is paid to training stability.
